is a timeline of key events connected to Scotby Station.
1781
Elihu Sutton established a Tannery in Scotby which is to be the
main source of employment for the next 150 years.
1836
19th July 1836, the first railway to reach Carlisle, the Newcastle
and Carlisle, opens its London Road station. A general holiday is
declared.
1842
Scotby Station built
1882
John Foster becomes station master
1920
John Foster retires as station master
Matthew Bright becomes station master
1925
Matthew Bright finishes as station master
1959
Scotby Station closes on Monday 2nd November, 1959
1966
Station House changes ownership from British Railways Board to Border
Rural District Council.
